Oh Dear
Spotted on /., a link to this article about the closure of the AT&T labs in Cambridge. A sad day for all of us.
I've worked for large IT companies and seen their idea of research and development - essentially any commercial development - and this is not it, this is actual R and D and its a shame to see one of the best proponents of the art has to close. The world needs research labs like this but I can't see any organisation with enough guts to fund them at the moment, more is the pity.
